    Tide locking, where high tides restrict normal drainage of the river out to sea, this afternoon may lead to flooding. 
    Flooding is possible from 3pm to 6pm on Wednesday 25th March, and from 3am to 7am on Thursday 26th March. 
    We expect to see high water levels around Potter Heigham, Wroxham boat yards and Ferry Road in Horning. River levels will remain high over the next couple of days due to tide locking, which is where tides restrict normal drainage of the river out to the sea.

    High tides, strong winds and large waves over the next two days may lead to flooding. 
    Flooding is possible from 9:15 PM to 11:15 PM on Tuesday 24 March and from 9:45 AM to 11:45AM on Wednesday 25 March 2026. 
    Flooding is forecast to affect low lying land, roads and paths, particularly around the coastline between Gore Point and Hurlstone Point including Porlock Weir. The first forecast high water is at 10:15 PM on Tuesday 24 March 2026. The forecast tide level is 5.06 mAOD with a Force 7 westerly wind. The second high water is at 10:45 AM on Wednesday 25 March 2026. The forecast tide level is 4.00 mAOD with a Force 7 north westerly wind. mAOD is height above average sea level in metres. Please note all tide times are in local time and refer to the high water time at Hinkley Point.

    Groundwater is high, very close to the surface, but now falling. Springs will continue to appear, water will be in fields, small amounts of water will flow down roads, groundwater will affect the ability of the sewage network to operate in East Dean, Charlton, Singleton and West Dean, and may appear in a small number of basements. Only isolated showers are forecast over the next 5 days to Saturday 28/03/2026. Groundwater at both Chilgrove and East Dean boreholes is expected to continue to fall. It is probable that groundwater will continue to fall throughout March, although groundwater flood impacts may not reduce until April. Take care on roads that flood (Chilgrove, West Dean, Singleton, East Dean). Ensure pumps work. We will update this message by 18:00 28/03/2026.

Flooding is expected. Immediate action required. Move family, pets and valuables to safety, turn off gas, electricity and water if it is safe to, and put flood protection in place.

Severe flood warning

Severe flooding. Danger to life. Stay in a safe place with a means of escape, and follow the advice of the emergency services. Call 999 if you are in immediate danger.
