Flood alert
Hunstanton coast in Norfolk
Strong winds and large waves tomorrow morning may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible 04:15am to 08:15am on Friday 9th October
Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers or on the coast, with spray being seeing on the seafront paths. Flood gates in the area will be closed by the Local Authority which will make access difficult. Please take notice of the Flood Sign at top of South Beach Road. The detailed forecast is for a peak level at King's Lynn of 3.16mAODN at 06:15am, on 9 October, which is -0.5m above tide tables, Wind Force 6, South Westerley. The high tide tomorrow at 18:15 is expected to also be above flood alert thresholds.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Avoid beaches and coastal promenades, which may be flooded.
This message will be updated by 9:00AM on Friday 09 October or as the situation changes.

River Flow
90 days
Daily mean discharge (m³/s) with the daily min–max band, from the EA Hydrology API. Flow is the volume of water passing the gauge — often a more direct flood signal than level.
Flow Data: Daily mean flow (m³/s) to 6 Oct (2 days behind — the EA publishes each day's mean a day or two after it ends; unchecked, provisional)via EA Hydrology
EA Cross-check: 0.04 mASD (EA at 8 Oct 16:15)
Geographic coordinates may reflect the access point for the gauge, and not the precise location in the watercourse that it is taking readings from.
Nearby Stations
Gauges connected to this river, and others nearby. A distance “by river” follows the river on the map; any other is in a straight line.
None of the storm overflows FloodRadar holds is traced upstream of this gauge on the mapped river network. That is not the same as none: the map leaves out many small streams and culverts, so an overflow it cannot place may still drain here, and not every company publishes every overflow.
These are the water companies' monitor statuses; a spill does not by itself explain a change in the gauge level. River connections and distances are traced on OS Open Rivers (edition 2026-04), which leaves out many small channels. Explore the sewage map →
Warnings apply to a whole flood area, not necessarily this exact spot. Years before 2006 aren't covered by the EA's historic record.
