Flood alert
Hunstanton coast in Norfolk
Strong winds and large waves tomorrow morning may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible from from 04:30am to 08:30am on Saturday 10th October.
Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers or on the coast, with spray being seen on the seafront paths. Flood gates in the area will be closed by the Local Authority which will make access difficult. Please take notice of the Flood Sign at the top of South Beach Road. The detailed forecast is for a peak level at King's Lynn of 4.02mAODN at 06:30am, on 10 October, which is 0.15m above tide tables, Wind Force 6, Westerley. The high tide tomorrow at 19:15pm is expected to also be above flood alert thresholds.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Avoid beaches and coastal promenades, which may be flooded.
This message will be updated by 9:00AM on Saturday 10 October or as the situation changes.
EA station status: Suspended (the Environment Agency has suspended this gauge)
Since 26 Aug 2026, in the EA's words: “This station is temporarily unavailable due to an equipment fault. We are working to get the station back online.”
None of the storm overflows FloodRadar holds is traced upstream of this gauge on the mapped river network. That is not the same as none: the map leaves out many small streams and culverts, so an overflow it cannot place may still drain here, and not every company publishes every overflow. Those nearby are listed below.
Nearby, connection not known
Within 6 km in a straight line, but the river map cannot say whether their water passes this gauge.
Anglian Water · into Gaywood River · 4.8 km away in a straight line · not connected to this gauge on the river map

8 more within 6 km whose connection is not known.
2 other overflows within 6 km are downstream of this gauge or on another branch of the river network, so they are not listed.
These are the water companies' monitor statuses; a spill does not by itself explain a change in the gauge level. River connections and distances are traced on OS Open Rivers (edition 2026-04), which leaves out many small channels. Explore the sewage map →
