Flood warnings in England

Flooding is possible from 02:15 AM to 06:15 AM on 12/09/2026. 

The forecast high tide at Richmond is 4.60 mAOD at 4:15 AM on 12/09/2026.

We believe there is a possibility of flooding for Putney Embankment (SW15), Chiswick Mall and Strand on the Green (W4), Thames Bank at Mortlake (SW14), Ranelagh Drive (TW1), Friars Lane and Water Lane (TW9), Riverside and The Embankment at Twickenham, and the Towpath below Teddington Lock. Flooding of properties is not expected.

Astronomical tide levels are rising. The river flow at Teddington Weir is 6 cubic metres per second and is steady. We anticipate the flows to remain steady over the next few days.

Areas most at risk lie within the Sandside area of North Morecambe Bay. Locations most affected will be coastal roads and footpaths.

The following two tides, Saturday lunchtime and Saturday night, are also forecast to exceed the Flood Alert threshold.

Tide levels will be high around the boat yard in Felixstowe Ferry hamlet at the end of Ferry Road, and along riverside areas in Woodbridge and Waldringfield, as well as in surrounding marshland. The detailed forecast is for a peak level at Harwich of 2.51mAODN at 1am, on Saturday 12th September, which is 0.31m above tide tables, wind force 3, southerly. Tides are expected to be higher than usual, due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides.

The flood gates at Felixstowe seafront will be closed. The waterfront at Pin Mill, and The Strand at Wherstead under the Orwell Bridge may be flooded. Water may be on the quay at Mistley. Tides are expected to be higher than usual, due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides.

Areas most at risk are Coalhouse Fort and car park, and the low lying land between the fort and Coalhouse Point. The detailed forecast is for a peak level at Southend of 3.42mAODN at 1:45am, on Saturday 12th September, which is 0.25m above tide tables, wind force 3, south westerly. Tides are expected to be higher than usual, due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides.

Clacton Promenade, Lee-over-Sands and Brightlingsea sea front may see some wave overtopping and spray. The Strood at Mersea Island, Coast Road and car parks on the front at West Mersea, and the Hythe and Promenade at Maldon may be flooded. The detailed forecast is for a peak level at Clacton of 2.86mAODN at 1am, on Saturday 12th September, which is 0.39m above tide tables, wind force 3, southerly. Tides are expected to be higher than usual, due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides.

Flooding is possible from 7:30PM to 9:30PM on 11/09, from 08:00am to 10:00am and from 08:00PM to 10:00PM on 12/09. 

Areas most at risk include the tidal River Avon from Sea Mills to Conham in Bristol and between the Avonmouth Bridge and Shirehampton Park including Pill and Shirehampton. The detailed tidal forecast for those who use it is for a peak level at Avonmouth Portbury. The first forecast high water of 7.42 mAODN is at 8:30PM 11/09, which is 0.14 m above tide tables, with Westerly force 4 winds. The second forecast high water is at 09:00AM 12/09 with a level of 7.4 mAODN with South-Westerly force 5 winds. (mAODN is height above average sea level.)

The detailed tidal forecast for those who use it is for a peak level at Christchurch Harbour of 1.20mAODN at 9:45PM, 11th September 2026, with force 3 North Westerly winds. (mAODN is height above average sea level.).

Flooding is possible Around high tide 

We are entering a sequence of Spring tides that may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible around 06:45 on Friday 11th September. Flooding is forecast to affect locations at Porlock Bay, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around the coastline between Gore Point and Hurlstone Point including Porlock Weir. The first high tide is at 06:45 on Friday with a peak height of 6.12m and a F4 north westerly wind. The second high tide is at 19:00 on Friday with a peak height of 6.37m and a F4 westerly wind
