A Flood Alert was issued for Wyre estuary from Fleetwood and Knott End to Little Eccleston in Lancashire between 11th and 13th September 2026. Affected watercourses included the Wyre Estuary.
During this event, FloodRadar monitoring gauges recorded notable rises. The River Wyre at Kirkland Bridge rose 1.19m, peaking at 1.70m, while the River Wyre at St Michaels climbed 1.08m.

There is no longer a threat of flooding, though standing water and debris may still remain. Coastal conditions are expected to improve and no flooding is expected. Last night's high tide was the last of the current phase of spring tides forecast to reach the flood alert threshold for Hambleton. We will continue to monitor the situation and will issue further alerts or warnings if necessary. Continue to take care on waterside roads and footpaths and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger.
