The catchment

Generally low relief catchment, draining Clent and Lickey hills. Contains Bromsgrove and Droitwich Spa. Virtually Drift free with predominant geology: Mercia Mudstone in the lower reaches. Mainly agricultural.

The station

Originally a velocity area station with a bed of stone blocks; closed 31/8/92. Replaced in 9/11/1992 by a flat V crump profile (1:20) weir, 7m wide, cross slopes, wing walls at 0.7m in reasonably straight reach, with additional cableway. Fully contained. Velocity-area station very prone to weed growth, summer corrections made: low flows of variable quality.

Two ratings applied across period of record, the most recent is valid from December-1992 when weir installed. Rating fits well to post weir gaugings to bank full. Gauged to bankfull only.

Flow regime

Groundwater for PWS leads to significant augmentation from sewage; spray irrigation abstraction seasonally significant.

Water year 1992/1993 rejected due to the true AMAX occurring during a missing period. Full period of record peak flow data reviewed and released in August 2021 (WINFAP Files v10).
