The catchment
A Chalk catchment (with extensive Clay-with-Flints cover). It is very rural in character.
The station
Crump weir, 3m wide, but was originally 5.5m wide and was reduced to improve sensitivity in 1968. Prone to siltation upstream of weir.
How it measures flow
Full range. Resurveyed in 1997 and a new datum was recorded. Non-modular flow conditions can occur when stage is in excess of 0.25m. Protected flows derived from standard Crump weir calculation.
Flow regime
Stable, spring-fed regime. Runoff reduced by gw abstractions (e.g. WBGS) during the POR.

2017/2018 AMAX accounts for West Berks Groundwater Scheme pump test in May 2018. 2018/2019 AMAX not affected by WBGS. Full period of record peak flow data reviewed and released in September 2020 (WINFAP Files v9).
