Flood alert
Hunstanton coast in Norfolk
Strong winds and large waves this evening may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible from 17:15pm to 21:15pm on Saturday 10th October
Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers or on the coast, with spray being seen on the seafront paths. Flood gates in the area will be closed by the Local Authority which will make access difficult. Please take notice of the Flood Sign at the top of South Beach Road. The detailed forecast is for a peak level at King's Lynn of 3.97mAODN at 19:15pm, on 10 October, which is 0.12m above tide tables, Wind Force 7, Westerly. The high tide tomorrow at 07:15am is expected to also be above flood alert thresholds.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Avoid beaches and coastal promenades, which may be flooded.
This message will be updated by 9:00PM on Saturday 10 October or as the situation changes.

Storm overflows whose water reaches this gauge on the mapped river network, nearest first by distance along the river. The status is each water company's monitor: it says whether an overflow is discharging, not how much or what it contains.
1 storm overflow is traced upstream of this gauge, the nearest 10.3 km away along the river. 0 report discharging now, 1 reports not discharging.
Anglian Water · into Unnamed Drain Steeping Haven · 1.1 km away in a straight line · discharges to the sea, an estuary or tidal water
0 spills · 0 hours in 2025
Not discharging now · last
These are the water companies' monitor statuses; a spill does not by itself explain a change in the gauge level. River connections and distances are traced on OS Open Rivers (edition 2026-04), which leaves out many small channels. Explore the sewage map →
