The catchment

The catchment area consists mainly of Upper Cretaceous, Upper Chalk and Upper Greendsand. Top end is a chalk stream. Land use mostly rural. No major catchment changes.

Station was built in 1989. GRP flat V Crump weir, 3m wide. Station number previously 44801.

How it measures flow

Frequent silt / gravel accumulation occurs upstream of the weir and in approach channel. No known modularity problems. One peak flow rating applied across period of record.

Flow regime

Some spring abstraction. Fish farm upstream of station.
