Predominantly Millstone Grit. Moorland headwaters; urban development and significant forest cover in the lower catchment.

Flat-V weir, 11m wide, 1:10 cross-slope.

How it measures flow

Weir drowns at high flows. Gauged to within 40% of QMED and flow is well contained above this, however there is uncertainty in the magnitude of the highest flows beyond the modular limit. No known by-passing.
