Torquay is a seaside town in Devon, England, part of the unitary authority area of Torbay. It lies 18 miles (29 km) south of the county town of Exeter and 28 miles (45 km) east-north-east of Plymouth, on the north of Tor Bay, adjoining the neighbouring town of Paignton on the west of the bay and across from the fishing port of Brixham. In 2011, the built-up area of Torquay had a population of 65,245.
Ordnance Survey places 101 postcodes in Torquay in the Environment Agency's rivers-and-sea flood-risk dataset (Risk of Flooding from Rivers and Sea). Each postcode is counted once, under the worst band any of its properties reaches; together they hold 892 properties in the EA dataset's likelihood bands.
| EA likelihood band | Postcodes (worst band) | Properties in the EA dataset | of which homes |
|---|---|---|---|
| High | 32 | 130 | 93 |
| Medium | 54 | 523 | 277 |
| Low | 15 | 225 | 149 |
| Very low | 0 | 14 | 1 |
| All bands | 101 | 892 | 520 |
This dataset covers flooding from rivers and the sea only — one of five flood sources. Surface water, groundwater, sewers and reservoirs are assessed separately, so a postcode missing from it is not proof that a place cannot flood. The band describes the land around properties (allowing for defences), not any single address and not today's conditions.

Two mapped watercourses are about the same distance from the middle of Torquay's gauges: an unnamed stream (about 100 m) and an unnamed lake (about 110 m), so this page cannot say which one is nearer to you.
Distances along the river are from the point on each watercourse nearest the middle of Torquay's gauges. From Ordnance Survey’s river map (OS Open Rivers), which leaves out small streams, ditches and culverts, so a nearer one may exist. This describes where water goes on the map; it says nothing about flooding at any address. Contains OS data © Crown copyright and database rights 2026.
