Kielder is a village and civil parish in western Northumberland, England. Located at the head of Kielder Water and in the north west of Kielder Forest, the village is within three miles of the Scottish border. In 2011 the parish had a population of 218.
The nearest watercourse on the river map is Kielder Burn, about 40 m from the middle of Kielder's gauges. It flows into the River North Tyne about 2.3 km downstream.
A gauge downstream shows water that has already passed this point; one upstream sees it first. Distances along the river are from the point on Kielder Burn nearest the middle of Kielder's gauges. From Ordnance Survey’s river map (OS Open Rivers), which leaves out small streams, ditches and culverts, so a nearer one may exist. This describes where water goes on the map; it says nothing about flooding at any address. Contains OS data © Crown copyright and database rights 2026.

No recorded flood outline is mapped around the Kielder town centre means no flood was mapped here, which is not evidence none happened: the Environment Agency mapped only some floods, mapping effort rose sharply after about 2000, and surface-water flooding is largely absent from this record. FloodRadar has separately logged 10 flood warnings or alerts for the Northumberland area since February 2026. See the flood history link below.
