  27. Flood alert Groundwater flooding in Hambledon HampshireGroundwater
    Message

High groundwater levels may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible , as a lot of rain (46mm) has fallen in the last week.
Groundwater levels in Hambledon are now relatively stable. Currently, widespread cellar flooding is expected. Groundwater is infiltrating into sewers and causing issues with overflowing manholes. Fareham Road is closed, and water is flowing onto the road on the north side of East Street. From Friday 20/02/2026 to Monday 23/02/2026, small amounts of rain are forecast. Groundwater levels will remain very high for the next week, and close to the level at which road flooding on the High Street has previously begun. If the level does rise, the flood alleviation scheme should minimise this impact.
We are closely monitoring the situation and liaising with Hambledon Flood Action Group.
Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed .

Where this comes from. England’s current warnings come from the Environment Agency; Scotland’s come from SEPA Floodline. We check each every 15 minutes. Contains SEPA data © Scottish Environment Protection Agency and database right 2026. Used with permission. The history since 2006 covers Environment Agency warnings in England only. Welsh warnings come from Natural Resources Wales, checked every 15 minutes. Contains Natural Resources Wales information © Natural Resources Wales and Database Right. All rights Reserved. The history is the Environment Agency’s record of every warning raised since 2006, which it publishes each quarter, joined to the warnings we have recorded live since. Each count is one warning or alert raised for one area; a warning that was later updated counts once. When a warning is removed that is not counted as a new warning. An area with no warnings on record can still flood.
