   This is a Flood Alert update. River levels remain high at South House, Little Puddle and Briantspuddle river gauges. Flooding could still affect locations near the River Piddle, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around tributaries between Alton Pancras and Wareham. It will remain dry today but rain is forecast for Thursday and Friday which may impact river levels. We will continue to monitor the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, and do not attempt to walk, cycle or drive through flood water.    High river levels today, 25th February 2026 may lead to flooding. This information is correct as of 07:00am Wednesday 25th February 2026. The causeway at Sutton Gault has approximately 30cm of water on the road. The causeway at Welney has up to 43cm of water on the road. The causeway at Earith has approximately 0cm of water on the road. Due to the uneven surface of the roads, water may be deeper in places. The Environment Agency are liaising with Norfolk Highways who will decide whether to close the Welney road. For more information about the causeway at Welney, please visit the 'Welney Flood Watch' Facebook group. Please note that the content of this group does not represent the views of the Environment Agency. We are not expecting the situation to escalate, or to issue any further warning messages at this time. No further rainfall is forecast today. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels.    Flooding is possible from 24 February 2026. 
   Groundwater levels are currently rising at our Farringdon borehole near Alton. Groundwater levels are above normal for this time of year and have now reached a level where communities may be affected by groundwater flooding within the next few days. We expect levels to continue rising. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer.

   Groundwater levels in Bishops Sutton are currently rising very slowly. No flooding impacts are currently expected. Tuesday 24/02/2026, Wednesday 25/02/2026 and Saturday 28/02/2026 are currently expected to be dry. From Thursday 26/02/2026 to Friday 27/02/2026, further rain (between 15 and 25mm) is forecast to affect Hampshire. If heavy rain affects Bishops Sutton, flooding could affect cellars of a small number of properties in the village later this week.

   High groundwater levels may lead to flooding. 
   Flooding is possible . Mostly light rain (19mm) has fallen in the last week. 
   At Vernham Dean, the groundwater level has started to stabilise. Flooding is affecting a small number of cellars in Upton. Septic tanks will also struggle to operate properly. On Tuesday 24/02/2026, Wednesday 25/02/2026 and Saturday 28/02/2026, the weather is expected to be dry. From Thursday 26/02/2026 into Friday, further rain (between 15 and 25mm) is forecast to affect Hampshire. If heavy rain affects the Bourne Valley, levels will rise for another 2 weeks. Cellar flooding and sewerage system impacts in St Mary Bourne, Hurstbourne Tarrant, Stoke, and Vernham Dean could occur during March.

   The level at the borehole at Pound Lane, Meonstoke is currently falling. Cellar flooding is expected to be ongoing in West Meon and Meonstoke. Groundwater is affecting land throughout the Meon Valley. Flooding is affecting the electricity sub station and flowing across the road at Rectory Lane. On Tuesday 24/02/2026, Wednesday 25/02/2026, and Saturday 28/02/2026, the weather will be dry. On Thursday 26/02/2026 into Friday 27/02/2026, further rain (between 15 and 25mm) is forecast in Hampshire. If heavy rain affects the Meon Valley, levels are expected to rise again for a couple of days.

    Flooding is possible on 24 Feb 2026.
    
    River levels are high on the River Thames. Flooding of low lying land and roads is possible during high tides today, 24 Feb 2026, especially in areas around Trowlock Island. Very little rainfall is forecast over the next few days. We expect river levels to slowly fall over the next few days. Additionally, tides are declining into neaps, so we expect peak levels to be getting lower.
    
    The next high tide is at 7:00pm on 24 February and could reach between 4.70m and 4.83m, the 2nd tide is at 7:15am on 25 February and could reach between 4.76m and 4.90m.
    
    We are monitoring rainfall and river levels. We are liaising with emergency services and local authorities.
    
    Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. Go to River levels online for updates on current river levels.

Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed. Residents may experience inundation of septic tanks and sewer systems.
