A Flood Warning was issued for Cumbrian coastline from Gretna to Silloth including Port Carlisle, Skinburness and Rockcliffe in Cumberland on 4th April 2026. Affected watercourses included the Irish Sea.
During this event, FloodRadar monitoring gauges recorded notable rises. The River Eden at Sheepmount rose 0.50m, peaking at 1.50m, while the River Eden at Sands Centre, Carlisle climbed 0.49m.

High tides, strong winds and large waves are expected to cause flooding throughout the evening. Flooding is expected from 1:00AM to 3:00AM on 05/04/2026. Potential flooding due to high winds from Storm Dave, subsequent tides not expected to have any impacts. Areas most at risk include Rockcliffe, Longburgh, Port Carlisle, Bowness-on-Solway, Anthorn, Angerton and Skinburness areas. We have closed flood gates at Skinburness Marsh.
