Flood Alert: River Sow and River Penk - February 2026

A Flood Alert was issued for River Sow and River Penk in Staffordshire, Wolverhampton between 28th February 2026 and 3rd March 2026. Affected watercourses included the Sandyford Brook, Ridings Brook, Saredon Brook.

During this event, FloodRadar monitoring gauges recorded notable rises. The River Penk at Penkridge rose 1.24m, peaking at 1.75m, while the River Sow at Milford climbed 1.11m.

Environment Agency advice issued

River levels remain high but steady at the Milford river gauge. Flooding is possible on 03 March 2026 . Levels at the Milford gauge are expected to remain high until 04 March. Flooding may affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Sow between Great Bridgeford and Shugborough, the River Penk between Coven and Stafford, the Sandyford Brook, the Rising Brook, the Ridings Brook and the Saredon Brook.
