A Flood Alert was issued for North Sea coast at Withernsea, Easington and Kilnsea in East Riding of Yorkshire on 9th October 2026. Affected watercourses included the North Sea.
During this event, FloodRadar monitoring gauges recorded notable rises. The North Sea at Paull rose 1.93m, peaking at 3.62m, while the Winestead Drain at Winestead Booster Pumping Station climbed 0.53m.
Environment Agency advice issued
High tides, strong winds and large waves tomorrow morning may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible from 04:45 to 08:15 on Saturday, 10/10/2026. Locations most affected will be coastal roads and footpaths along the North Sea coast from Mappleton to Spurn Point. Unsettled coastal conditions are forecast to remain for the high tide on Sunday morning and we will re-issue this alert if required. We are closely monitoring the situation . Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 9:00AM on Saturday 10 October or as the situation changes.
