    Areas particularly at risk include Hallsands, Beesands, Torcross, Slapton, Blackpool Sands, Teignmouth Promenade and Dawlish.

    The high tide at Teignmouth on Wednesday is at 23:00, times of high water will vary along the coast. Forecast total high tide level is 1.72mAOD, which is 0.15 metres above tide table level. Strong South Easterly winds and offshore wave heights up to 1.7m are forecast over the high tide.

    Coastal conditions should ease for Thursday morning's high tide.

    Continued high groundwater levels may lead to flooding. Flooding of low-lying areas and roads is possible.

    Groundwater levels are high but slowly declining at our Hodcott borehole affecting West Ilsley, East Ilsley, Compton, Chilton and West Hagbourne. Groundwater levels are expected to continue slowly falling over the coming weeks in response to a period of more settled weather. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer.

    Residents are advised to consider property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed. Keep up to date with groundwater levels on the 'Get Flood Warnings' site on gov.uk.

Groundwater levels are expected to continue slowly falling over the coming weeks in response to a period of more settled weather. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer.

    We believe there is a possibility of flooding for Putney Embankment (SW15), Chiswick Mall and Strand on the Green (W4), Thames Bank at Mortlake (SW14), Ranelagh Drive (TW1), Friars Lane and Water Lane (TW9), Riverside and The Embankment at Twickenham, and the Towpath below Teddington Lock. Flooding of properties is not expected.

    Astronomical tide levels are peaking. The river flow at Teddington Weir is 33 cubic metres per second and is steady. We anticipate the flows to remain steady for the next few days.

Flooding of properties is not expected.

    High tide levels and large waves may lead to flooding this evening, Saturday 18th April 2026. Flooding of roads, low lying land, and exposed areas of the coast is possible. Flooding is possible between 7:00pm and 9:00pm. Areas most at risk include the Humber estuary from Hessle Haven to Faxfleet. We are closely monitoring the situation. Be careful on beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths, and roads. We are currently in a period of high tides so this alert may be re-issued if necessary.     High tides overnight may lead to flooding. 
    Flooding is possible between 01:00am and 03:00am tomorrow, Sunday 19 April. 
    Areas most at risk are Coalhouse Fort and car park, and the low lying land between the fort and Coalhouse Point. The detailed forecast is for a peak level at Southend of 3.43mAODN at 02:00am tomorrow Sunday 19 April which is 0.29m above tide tables, Wind Force 4, North Westerly. No further high tides are expected over the coming days.

    We believe there is a possibility of flooding for Putney Embankment (SW15), Chiswick Mall and Strand on the Green (W4), Thames Bank at Mortlake (SW14), Ranelagh Drive (TW1), Friars Lane and Water Lane (TW9), Riverside and The Embankment at Twickenham, and the Towpath below Teddington Lock. Flooding of properties is not expected.

    Astronomical tide levels are rising. The river flow at Teddington Weir is 46 cubic metres per second and is steady. We anticipate the flows to remain steady for the next few days.

What the three levels mean

Flood alert

Flooding is possible. Be prepared. Keep an eye on local river levels and forecasts, and get ready to move valuables and put flood protection in place.

Flood warning

Flooding is expected. Immediate action required. Move family, pets and valuables to safety, turn off gas, electricity and water if it is safe to, and put flood protection in place.

Severe flood warning

Severe flooding. Danger to life. Stay in a safe place with a means of escape, and follow the advice of the emergency services. Call 999 if you are in immediate danger.

Where this comes from. Warnings in force are the Environment Agency’s own, which we check every 15 minutes. They cover England only: for Wales see Natural Resources Wales, for Scotland SEPA Floodline, and for Northern Ireland nidirect.

The history is the Environment Agency’s record of every warning raised since 2006, which it publishes each quarter, joined to the warnings we have recorded live since. Each count is one warning or alert raised for one area; a warning that was later updated counts once. When a warning is removed that is not counted as a new warning. An area with no warnings on record can still flood.
