A Flood Warning was issued for Groundwater flooding for the Avon valley from Amesbury to the north of Salisbury in Wiltshire on 25th February 2026. Affected watercourses included the Groundwater.
During this event, FloodRadar monitoring gauges recorded notable rises. The Groundwater Level at Windwhistle rose 1.81m, peaking at 80.33m, while the Groundwater Level at Homington climbed 1.67m.

Groundwater levels in Salisbury Plain are beginning to plateau but remain high. Areas that could be affected include: Avon Valley including Amesbury, Great Durnford, Upper Woodford, Middle Woodford and Lower Woodford. The groundwater level at Stoford Cross borehole has fallen slightly to 71.43m. We have had a few days of drier weather, but further rainfall is forecast starting tomorrow, Thursday 26 February, which may cause levels to rise once again into the weekend. Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed.
