A Flood Warning was issued for B1040 Thorney to Whittlesey Road to the South of the River Nene in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough between 25th February 2026 and 8th March 2026. Affected watercourses included the River Nene.
During this event, FloodRadar monitoring gauges recorded notable rises. The River Nene at Orton Sluice rose 1.31m, peaking at 2.22m, while the River Nene at Wansford climbed 0.84m.

High river levels are expected to continue to cause flooding on 8th March 2026. River levels remain high following recent rainfall. The Whittlesey Wash flood storage reservoir is being operated to protect nearby communities from flooding. Levels in the flood storage reservoir remain high and there is continued flooding of the B1040 road. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority may close the B1040 for safety reasons.
