A Flood Alert was issued for Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwent Water in Cumberland between 12th and 14th March 2026. Affected watercourses included the Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck.
During this event, FloodRadar monitoring gauges recorded notable rises. The River Greta at Greta Bridge rose 1.35m, peaking at 2.53m, while the River Glenderamackin at Threlkeld climbed 1.27m.

Due to recent rainfall, lake and river levels remain high but will fall slowly throughout the day. Today will be dry with patchy cloud and sunny spells. Clouding over this evening with some showers pushing in from the west in places. We are not currently expecting any further warnings. Flooding is possible on 14 March 2026 . Locations most affected will be around the shores of Derwent Water Lake. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water . We are closely monitoring the situation . This message will be updated by 8:00AM on 15 March 2026 or as the situation changes.
