Flood Alert: South Devon Rivers - 26th February 2026

A Flood Alert was issued for South Devon Rivers in Devon on 26th February 2026. Affected watercourses included the River Avon, River Erme, River Harbourne.

During this event, FloodRadar monitoring gauges recorded notable rises. The River Avon at Loddiswell rose 1.11m, peaking at 1.66m, while the River Erme at Ermington climbed 0.99m.

Environment Agency advice issued

High river levels overnight may lead to flooding.  Flooding is possible from the evening of 26 February 2026 .  Heavy rain is expected from 4pm onwards and forecast river levels may cause flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river from this evening and overnight. The main areas of concern are Ivybridge, South Brent, Ermington, Avonwick, Averton Giffard, Kingsbridge, Harbertonford and Dartmouth. We expect the river to remain high throughout the nigh.
