    The current sequence of high Spring tides, peaks this evening and may lead to flooding.
    Flooding is possible around 21:00 on Friday 14th August.
    Flooding is forecast to affect locations at Porlock Bay, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around the coastline between Gore Point and Hurlstone Point including Porlock Weir.
    The detailed tidal forecast for those who use it is for a peak level at Hinkley of 6.49 mAODN at 21:00 on 14/08/26, which is 1.02m above tide tables, with Westerly force 5 winds. (mAODN is height above average sea level.)
    After the high tide at 21:00 on 14/8/26, the weather is forecast to improve and no further flooding is expected.

    Flooding is possible around 20:15 on Thursday 13th August and 08:45 on Friday 14th August. 
    Flooding is forecast to affect locations at Porlock Bay, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around the coastline between Gore Point and Hurlstone Point including Porlock Weir.
    The detailed tidal forecast for those who use it is for a peak level at Hinkley. The first forecast high water of 6.38 mAODN is at 20:15 on 13/08/26 with Westerly force 6 winds. The second forecast high water is at 08:45 on 14/08/26 with a level of 6.19 mAODN with Westerly force 4 winds. (mAODN is height above average sea level.)

    Flooding is possible from 08:00am to 12:00pm on 03.08.2026. 
    Areas most at risk are around Hunstanton seafront. Flood gates in the area will be closed by the Local Authority which will make access difficult.

    The detailed forecast is for a peak level at King's Lynn of 4.1mAODN at 10:00am on 03 August 2026, Wind Force 5, Easterly. The high tide tomorrow evening is not expected to be as high.

    Flooding is possible from 05:00 AM to 07:00 AM on 19/07/2026. 
    The forecast high tide at Richmond is 4.65 mAOD at 06:00 AM on 19/07/2026.

    We believe there is a possibility of flooding for Putney Embankment (SW15), Chiswick Mall and Strand on the Green (W4), Thames Bank at Mortlake (SW14), Ranelagh Drive (TW1), Friars Lane and Water Lane (TW9), Riverside and The Embankment at Twickenham, and the Towpath below Teddington Lock. Flooding of properties is not expected.

    Astronomical tide levels are rising. The river flow at Teddington Weir is 8 cubic metres per second and is steady. We anticipate the flows to remain steady for the next few days.

    Clacton Promenade, Lee-over-Sands and Brightlingsea sea front may see some wave overtopping and spray. The Strood at Mersea Island, Coast Road and car parks on the front at West Mersea, and the Hythe and Promenade at Maldon may be flooded. The detailed forecast is for a peak level at Clacton of 2.85mAODN at 3am tomorrow, Sunday 19 July which is 0.6m above tide tables, Wind Force 5, Northerly. Tides are expected to be higher than usual, due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides.

We are not expecting the situation to escalate, or to issue any further warning messages at this time.

What the three levels mean

Flood alert

Flooding is possible. Be prepared. Keep an eye on local river levels and forecasts, and get ready to move valuables and put flood protection in place.

Flood warning

Flooding is expected. Immediate action required. Move family, pets and valuables to safety, turn off gas, electricity and water if it is safe to, and put flood protection in place.

Severe flood warning

Severe flooding. Danger to life. Stay in a safe place with a means of escape, and follow the advice of the emergency services. Call 999 if you are in immediate danger.

Where this comes from. Warnings in force are the Environment Agency’s own, which we check every 15 minutes. They cover England only: for Wales see Natural Resources Wales, for Scotland SEPA Floodline, and for Northern Ireland nidirect.

The history is the Environment Agency’s record of every warning raised since 2006, which it publishes each quarter, joined to the warnings we have recorded live since. Each count is one warning or alert raised for one area; a warning that was later updated counts once. When a warning is removed that is not counted as a new warning. An area with no warnings on record can still flood.
