    Tide locking where high tides restrict normal drainage of the river out to sea this afternoon and overnight into tomorrow, may lead to flooding.
    Flooding is possible today 26.03.26 and tomorrow 27.03.26.

    We expect to see high water levels around Potter Heigham, Wroxham boat yards and Ferry Road in Horning. River levels will remain high over the next couple of days due to tide locking, which is where tides restrict normal drainage of the river out to the sea.

    Groundwater levels in Bishops Sutton are high but relatively stable. Currently, groundwater is close to the level we expect, potentially affecting a small number of cellars in the community.     Groundwater levels in Deane and Ashe are high but slowly falling. At the borehole in Oakley, the level has fallen by 9cm in the last week. Flooding could affect the ability of septic tanks to operate effectively. From Wednesday 25/03/2026 to Sunday 29/03/2026, only very small amounts of rain are forecast.     Groundwater levels in the villages surrounding Andover are high but falling very slowly. Cellar flooding is expected to be ongoing in Appleshaw, Hatherden and possibly Penton Grafton. Sewerage system impacts are expected be occurring in Appleshaw and Penton Mewsey. In Penton Grafton, the main road is flooded. Only very small amounts of rain are forecast from Wednesday 25/03/2026 to Sunday 29/03/2026. Groundwater levels are expected to continue slowly falling this week. Flooding impacts will continue into April. We are closely monitoring the situation. Residents are advised to ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed.     Groundwater levels are high but stable at our Farringdon borehole near Alton and flooding of low-lying areas and roads is possible. We expect levels to remain high over the coming days and levels will remain sensitive to further rainfall. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer. We are closely monitoring rainfall and groundwater levels. What the three levels mean

Flood alert

Flooding is possible. Be prepared. Keep an eye on local river levels and forecasts, and get ready to move valuables and put flood protection in place.

Flood warning

Flooding is expected. Immediate action required. Move family, pets and valuables to safety, turn off gas, electricity and water if it is safe to, and put flood protection in place.

Severe flood warning

Severe flooding. Danger to life. Stay in a safe place with a means of escape, and follow the advice of the emergency services. Call 999 if you are in immediate danger.

Where this comes from. Warnings in force are the Environment Agency’s own, which we check every 15 minutes. They cover England only: for Wales see Natural Resources Wales, for Scotland SEPA Floodline, and for Northern Ireland nidirect.

The history is the Environment Agency’s record of every warning raised since 2006, which it publishes each quarter, joined to the warnings we have recorded live since. Each count is one warning or alert raised for one area; a warning that was later updated counts once. When a warning is removed that is not counted as a new warning. An area with no warnings on record can still flood.
