A Flood Alert was issued for North Sea coast from Staithes to Whitby including tidal River Esk in North Yorkshire, Redcar and Cleveland on 12th September 2026. Affected watercourses included the North Sea.
Local monitoring gauges did not record a significant level change for this event, which may indicate a precautionary or rainfall-forecast-based alert.

High tides today may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible from 4:00:am to 5:30am on 13/09/2026 Locations most affected will be coastal roads and footpaths. We are closely monitoring the situation . Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water . This message will be updated by 09:00AM on 13 September 2026 or as the situation changes.
