A Flood Alert was issued for Groundwater flooding in the Great Shefford area in West Berkshire on 7th April 2026. Affected watercourses included the Groundwater.
During this event, FloodRadar monitoring gauges recorded notable rises. The Groundwater Level at Hazelberry Plantation rose 0.38m, peaking at 124.04m, while the Groundwater Level at Water Acre climbed 0.33m.

Continued high groundwater levels may lead to flooding. Flooding of low-lying areas and roads is possible. Groundwater levels are now falling very gradually at our Northfield Farm borehole in the Great Shefford area. We expect levels to remain high over the next few weeks and levels will remain sensitive to further sustained rainfall. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer. We are closely monitoring rainfall and groundwater levels.
