Further rainfall and strong winds are expected throughout today, with river and lake levels remaining high after the rainfall over the weekend. Locations most affected will be rivers Brathay, Rothay, Winster and other watercourses from Grasmere to Grange-over-Sands including low lying areas around Ambleside, Skelwith Bridge, Windermere, Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Backbarrow, Cark and Cartmel. We continue to closely monitor the situation . Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 9:00AM on Tuesday 27 October or as the situation changes.
