    High groundwater levels are causing flooding. Groundwater levels in the Salisbury Plain area are beginning to fall but remain high. Areas that could be affected include: Tilshead, Orcheston, Shrewton, Berwick St James and Stapleford. The Groundwater level at Tilshead was 96.92 metres and property flooding is possible when it goes above 96.50 metres. The forecast is for showers later this week which may cause some response in groundwater fed rivers. Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed. Residents may experience inundation of septic tanks and sewer systems. Properties may experience flooding in cellars in affected areas. We are closely monitoring the situation. If you have a pump, make sure it is working and switched on. Flood warning

Flooding is expected. Immediate action required. Move family, pets and valuables to safety, turn off gas, electricity and water if it is safe to, and put flood protection in place.

Severe flood warning

Severe flooding. Danger to life. Stay in a safe place with a means of escape, and follow the advice of the emergency services. Call 999 if you are in immediate danger.

Where this comes from. Warnings in force are the Environment Agency’s own, which we check every 15 minutes. They cover England only: for Wales see Natural Resources Wales, for Scotland SEPA Floodline, and for Northern Ireland nidirect.

The history is the Environment Agency’s record of every warning raised since 2006, which it publishes each quarter, joined to the warnings we have recorded live since. Each count is one warning or alert raised for one area; a warning that was later updated counts once. When a warning is removed that is not counted as a new warning. An area with no warnings on record can still flood.
