Small amounts of water may still flow down roads, and intermittently appear in a few basements. Predominantly fine weather is forecast through the first half of the week, with a small amount of rain forecast on Thursday and Friday 3/4/2026. Springs will continue to appear, water will be in fields, small amounts of water will flow down roads, groundwater will affect the ability of the sewage network to operate in East Dean, Charlton, Singleton and West Dean, and may appear in a small number of basements. Only small amounts of rain are forecast over the five days to 06/03/2026, and groundwater at both Chilgrove and East Dean boreholes will continue to slowly fall over the coming week. There is a suggestion that high pressure, settled conditions, and only small amounts of rain could continue in the south east of England through the first half of March 2026. Which would allow groundwater to fall for longer. However, with groundwater so high, groundwater flood impacts are still likely to continue until at least the middle of March. Take care on roads that flood (Chilgrove, West Dean, Singleton, East Dean). Ensure pumps work. We will update this message by 18:00 06/03/2026.

Springs will appear, water will be in fields, small amounts of water will flow down roads, groundwater will affect the ability of the sewage network to operate in East Dean, Charlton, Singleton and West Dean, and may appear in a small number of basements. Where this comes from. Warnings in force are the Environment Agency’s own, which we check every 15 minutes. They cover England only: for Wales see Natural Resources Wales, for Scotland SEPA Floodline, and for Northern Ireland nidirect.

The history is the Environment Agency’s record of every warning raised since 2006, which it publishes each quarter, joined to the warnings we have recorded live since. Each count is one warning or alert raised for one area; a warning that was later updated counts once. When a warning is removed that is not counted as a new warning. An area with no warnings on record can still flood.
