Catchment of moderate relief on dip slope of Magnesian L'st outcrop with a narrow band of Permian Marl near the gauge. Extractive industries in the west otherwise mixed farming and forestry.

Crump profile Flat V weir, 4.57m at V-full, in trapezoidal channel. Downstream bridge provokes early non-modularity. Modified stage discharge curve produced for non-modularity at high flows.

Two ratings applied across period of record, the reason for change unknown. Ratings fit well to gaugings which are quite scattered, however all flows are contained. Downstream bridge provokes early non-modularity. Modified stage discharge curve produced for non-modularity at high flows.
